Alright ladies and gents, I got something fun for you. Our first draft of a complete song with vocals! Unfortunately this is the one track with no metal influence… but it’s still gonna be good.
Before we get into it though, a couple disclaimers:
- I will not be Abram on the album. I’m just singing a rough draft to try out the melodies and rhythms!
- While singing, I experiment with different melodies here and there, so I’m kinda all over the place and uncertain in my parts. It’s all part of the process.
Another fun aspect of this song is that I also sing the part of Abram’s wife! Yes, with the help of autotune I changed my voice to sound like a girl’s, and it’s pretty funny. At times it’s almost convincing! This song will be way better when Nicole can sing it though…
Alright, here it is! (Lyrics are in my previous post.)
You’ll notice I also bring back the ukumandolele. This will of course be replaced by actual mandolin, and we will eventually have the banjo added back into the song as well.
Instead of the mandolin picking at 2:12, I’m thinking a nice fiddle tune would go well. The ending is pretty rough, I know, but I wasn’t sure if I should keep it going more or not…
Lastly, it’s clear that the melodies and harmonies need some serious fine-tuning, but at least we have a starting place!
Not exactly the type of song one might imagine for a man killing his wife in her sleep, eh? I just love that it’s presented as a love song duet…
